What is the centre-line height band for PVB / SRPVB / DCVA / RP above the floor?

750-1500 mm

The height being tested is where the backflow prevention device sits so that maintenance and testing are practical. For PVB, SRPVB, DCVA, and RP assemblies, the center line of the unit should be 750 to 1500 mm above the finished floor. This range places the device at a comfortable working level for technicians to access the body and, crucially, the test cocks used during annual tests.

Being within this band makes it easy to attach test equipment and hoses, read gauges, and operate the device without excessive bending or reaching. It also keeps the unit clear of the floor, reducing splash and damage risk, and ensures there’s adequate room around the unit for proper service and future maintenance. If the unit were installed much lower, accessibility and testing would be cumbersome; if too high, reaching the test cocks and operating the device becomes awkward or impractical.
